I am having problems with my backup routines under VMS 5.2 and 5.3-1. I have been told by DEC that there is an assist patch that will rectify theses problems. These problems consist of a general slowness during backup, and backup routines failing to complete. Is there anybody who has installed this patch 101? What symptoms did you have? What did assist patch 101 resolve? Where any side effects after the installation? Any response would be greatly appreciated. Rich Wernick wernick@venus.clearpoint.com

In addition to fixing the problems you mention, CSCPAT 101 (a new backup image) and CSCPAT 153 (new F11BXQP) are crucial to the reliability of your backups. Even though most of the problems fixed require obscure conditions to be observed, I wouldn't trust any backup made without them. Put in the patches then backup your disks. There are no side effects.
