Dear DecStation Users: At Ohio State University we are using a statistics program called SPlus. I have this program installed and running on a DecSystem 5500 RISC Computer System. This program uses up the resources of any computer it is run on. It doesn't clean up swap memory during loops and it tends to use up all the system memory unless you limit the system memory somehow. I have adjusted the swap size, data size, and other kernel parameters to make this program behave in a reasonable manner. Using csh's limit commands seem to help but I would like feedback from other users who have played with the kernel configuration in order to get the most out of SPlus and our DEC Ultrix Version 4.1 system. Does anyone out there have experience with setting up these and other system parameters. DEC gives no guidelines in this area. Please E-Mail messages to me directly at mrs@osustat.mps.ohio-state.edu and post to the newsgroup as well. Thanks and have a great day. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - M. R.
