I have a Digital LP27 band printer on an aging VAX 11/780. I would like to get rid of the 780, but need to keep the line printer. We have tried to make it work on a Convex DataProducts line printer controller, but despite the Dataproducts interface the printer supposedly has, no combination of switch settings will make it talk properly to the controller (N.B. a printer from the telescope site, which was not purchased from DEC but is otherwise identical, worked fine, but it is needed on a Modcomp out there). So it looks like I need to buy an LPV11 controller board and put it in our MicroVAX-II, which will be sticking around for a couple of years or so. I need to find out a) will this actually work? and b) where can I get one for a reasonable price, i.e. cheaper than DEC's list? I have to confess I have not been paying a lot of attention to the glossies that come from resellers of VAX equipment, since we are moving away from VMS. Can anyone tell me who to look at? Thank you very much. -- Ruth Milner Systems Manager NRAO/VLA Socorro NM Computing Division Head rmilner@zia.aoc.nrao.edu
