[comp.sys.dec] More whining. . .

xxwwxx@mixcom.COM (Tim and Tim Company) (06/28/91)

I managed to get some info on the switch settings for
the 11/73. Actually, they are from an 11/83, which,
from what I understand, is close enough.

(Thanks, Lee!)

I'm still running into problems, however.

This CPU is going into the same backplane that I've been
using my 11/23+ in. I've had no noticeable problems.

Take everything out, and insert 11/73. (M8190-AB).

Upon power-up, the screen clears, and it says

Testing in progress - Please wait

Numbers flash by on the LED display, very briefly.

They land on "56." (What does that mean, Vanna?)

Doesn't make a difference if memory is installed or not.

I've tried it with 2MB, 4MB, a genuine DEC MSV11-PL, and NO memory.

With the information I was provided, (which was
not altogether very well written,) I messed around
with switches 2-5. Either I got the usual "56.", or
it would flip through 3 or 4 numbers, in rapid succession,
pausing for a moment on "62."

I can get it to power-up, and drop into ODT, but instead
of it displaying 173000, it displays something like 173102.

It does give me the prompt, though.

If I type "0/", to view location 0, it just prints "0?".

Is it NOT seeing memory? How could it not?

If anyone can help, let me know.

I'm growing balder every day!
