[rec.music.misc] DOA's new album -- "Murder"

gld@cunixd.cc.columbia.edu (Gary L Dare) (01/18/90)

While home in Winnipeg, Canada's MuchMusic had the video from DOA's
new album "Murder" (Enigma/Capitol) called "Where Evil Grows". The
song is originally by fellow Vancouverite Terry Jacks, who with his
then-wife Susan were a soft-rock duo called The Poppy Family.

While girls in my junior high school were mellowing out with Susan's
"Which Way You Going, Billy?", Terry came out with a spooky number
that is now covered (and much improved) by Joey and the boys. The
video features a lot of filthy smokestacks belching pollution and grim
reminders that "Talk - Action = Nothing". Definitely in line with
DOA's Green stance (will they soon be endorsing those products
friendly to the environment and the body, now so popular in Canada?
(-;).

PS: In their last album on New York's Rock Hotel label, DOA covered
BTO's "Takin' Care of Business"; Randy Bachman, who lives in Delta,
B.C., liked it so much that he showed up to jam on it during some
kind of environmental protest. That video was quite hilarious, esp.
if you're an ice hockey fan.
