I'm considering buying a 4 track recorder. Anyone have any advice? The brands I've encountered are Yamaha (MT100II), Fostex (260? 280?), and Tascam (Portastudio). A salesman at Sam Ash told me the MT100II's have too much hiss. I didn't see a Tascam - do you have any experience with this brand? Also, I'm considering buying one used. Do you have any advice (pro/con) about buying a used 4-track? Oh yeah - the different brands have different noise reductions. Any advice on whether dolby C is good enough, if dbx is needed, etc.? I am also looking to get a digital reverb. I'm thinking around $200-$300. I saw the Alesis Midiverb(?) II for $200. It sounds pretty good. Do you have any advice about this or any other reverb unit?
