So I've got a Mac, a MIDI keyboard, some sequencing software, and the parts for a cable to connect 'em all together - the problem is that I cannot find a wiring diagram for the required cable ANYWHERE! My understanding is that the interace (mac<->midi) really is nothing but a cable with the right connectors on the ends - if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me (:-). Can anyone help?? If I get a reasonable answer, I'll post (to a mac list) a nice document with pretty pictures showing how to do it... So *next* time someone has to do it, they'll be able to find it in an archive somewhere. thanx, -Mike Thome (mthome@bbn.com)

A Mac<->midi interface usually consists of opto-isolators and an external clock to clock the Mac's serial ports at the right rate for MIDI. MacTutor magazine had an article on building one a while back. The August 1987 issue of MacTutor has an article giving the source of a library of functions for dealing with MIDI data. That article references the hardware article. --- David Phillip Oster --My Good News: "I'm a perfectionist." Arpa: oster@dewey.soe.berkeley.edu --My Bad News: "I don't charge by the hour."
