I received several responses to my request for the midi file format standard. I have successfully called Opcode (see below) and been promised a draft in the mail. I didn't talk to Dave Oppenheim, the secretary was able to send me a copy. I didn't call the MIDI association but I am posting the address FYI. When I get the draft I might post a copy to the usenet if anybody is interested and it is not too much typing. I still have a copy of the MIDI 1.0 message standard that was posted a little while back if anybody wants that. One last thing, now that I have (hopefully) gotten my hands on the file spec, does anybody out there have any recommendations for score editors that are compatible with the standard? I already have a sequencer and I am hoping to save a little money by buying just a score editor. Master tracks Pro has been mentioned as a sequencer that accepts standard midi file format files. - kurt ---- From the recommendations I received: There is attempt to produce a MIDI (file format) standard.
