I've been using the MIDI Manager and have been experiencing some strange behavior with the serial ports on my Mac Plus when I use them for terminal communications with a modem. Apparently, the MIDI Manager INIT sets up the PRAM in some way so that I can't run VersaTerm PRO unless I first launch Patchbay, make sure the modem MIDI port is *enabled*, and then exit the program. If the modem MIDI port is disabled, the terminal program won't work. (I can enable the printer port and use that with VersaTerm PRO, but the same problem applies to that port as well.) Also, if I shut down properly and reboot with another system that does not have the MIDI Manager INIT on it, I can't make the modem port work with VersaTerm PRO at all. This is disturbing.... Am I forever locked into loading the MIDI Manager? Is this something that has to do with the PRAM? More importantly, has this happened with anyone else? I'm using System 6.0.2 with no INIT's other than AutoBlack (macsbugs), SuperClock 3.5, and the MIDI Manager INIT. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon W.
