[rec.music.synth] Number of Voices in Yamaha V-50, Casio CZ-1, Casio HT-6000

ia4@cunixd.cc.columbia.edu (Imran Anwar) (01/15/90)

I have used the CASIO HT-6000 61-touch sensitive keyboard / "synth" with
my 1040ST and Dr.T's KCS. The HT-6000 could produce 4 different Voices
alongwith the drum machine sounds so I could compose 4 instrument tunes. I
was now looking for another Ht-6000 but apparently they are not available
anymore.

I visited Sam Ash Music Downtown and found a great Yamaha V-50 keyboard for
about $1300 or so. It is said to be 16 note 8 voice polyphonic.

My questions:-

-Does that mean I can use it to produce sounds like 8 instruments playing
together?

-This particular model has a sequencer and floppy drive built in but these
are of no interest to me as I already have a computer and sequencer s/ware.
Is there a version of this keyboard w/out the drive and sequencer. Which one?

-How does the V-50 compare to the CASIO cz-1 or 1000? My primary interest is
to make tunes with one synth that has the most # of "voices" that can be
                                                     -------------------
played simultaneously (not # of patches of internal and preset voices)
---------------------

Please oblige with your opinion and answers to these questions. Thank you.

I would appreciate if you could send me email directly:
