I would like to thank those people who took the time to answer my questions concerning the LAPC-1 card. I found out that the LAPC-1 card is basically a MT-32 synth made by Roland. Unlike the MT-32, the sounds of the LAPC-1 are supposed to be much better than that of the normal MT-32. The LAPC-1 lists for $595 and can be bought from Sierra Online for $450. However, this does NOT have any MIDI capabilities. In order to have MIDI you must buy a MIDI connector which costs $150. Althought the LAPC-1 sounds like a fine card and was given a Technical Excellance Award by PC Magazine, I have decided not to buy it for the following reasons: - I think that I can save money by getting a normal external MIDI Synth. (Any suggestions would be welcome.) - If I would like to change/upgrade my system, it would be easier to sale an external Synth, since I could sale it to people who have any type of computer or no computer at all. Again, I would like to thank everyone for their information. If anyone knows a good midi card and synth for the beginning MIDI musician I would be thankful for that information as well. -----Dale Rogerson-----
