I've problems with the recently-posted ARCed posters in rec.arts.startrek. It seems my (SYSV) ARC program can only handle 12 bit compression and the posters used 20 bit. I tried changing the BITS definition in the code from 12 to 20 but it didn't work. I don't know (and really don't want to know) enough about data compression to know why. Is there a System V-compatible ARC program that will do 20 bit compression? Or, is there a compression expert out there that would be interested in helping me solve tis problem? -- Edward C. I've got a better one: I arced some stuff on my system and now I can't unarc it! The file has some crunched files and some squeezed files. When I try to unarc the squeezed files it gives me a damaged decode tree error. Seems kind of funny since IT made the tree. Any clues would be apprciated. John -- John B.
