I've just installed tcsh on a vax 750 running 4.3, using diff on 4.2 csh sources. It runs perfectly well when invoked from another shell, but will not run on a login (when the passwd entry has been set properly). The symptoms are depending on the terminal : runs well on a sun terminal runs bad on a hp 2392A, or a plain vt100 terminal : garbage characters, seems to be a problem with flow control. does not run at all on lsi adm11 : any key I hit makes the terminal beep (except h and w which send a CR) When I manage to type csh, all the problems disappear, even when I call another tcsh. So I suspect something with the initialization of the terminal, but I can't get the state of the terminal under tcsh since it all ends up in garbage. From what I can glimpse, a stty gives the good parametres (speed, tabs etc). As I'm far to have the beginning of the look of an apprentice unix guru, I guess i must miss some point... -- Jean-Francois Rit |Ne dites pas a ma mere Laboratoire d'Informatique Fondamentale |que je fais de l'IA, elle et d'Intelligence Artificielle |croit que je travaille sur rit@lifia.imag.fr |un ordinateur!
