I got hold of Kenneth Almquist's program ash a couple of days ago and have succeeded in getting it to compile on a 286 Xenix system. There is one annoying bug, however: If an executable (shell script or binary) is not owned by root and does not have public execute permission (and read for shell scripts) then root cannot run it. I only noticed this since several shell scripts in /etc are owned by bin and are -rwx------ mode. Root, however, should really be able to run these scripts without having to su. Has anyone else had this problem ? Any help would be appreciated.
