Has anybody (other than beta test sites) received a 2.9 bsd tape and manual set. We sent our application and check in two months ago and have heard nothing. When we call their number we get an answering machine which seems to be of no use, because they don't call back. If anybody has heard anything please let me know by mail. Thanks in advance. ...!ihnp4!mtplx1!washu!kurt

I called two weeks ago and got an answering machine but Carl Smith called me back the same day. Seems they are so overloaded we'll be lucky to get a tape in a month. I hope this articles saves them a few phone calls so they can do some *real* work. -- Phil Ngai (408) 988-7777 {ucbvax|decwrl|ihnp4|allegra}!amd70!phil

Well, time for my biannual posting of this article: Does anyone yet have 2.9? If so, when did you get it and when did you file your order? We filed our in early March of 1983. Anyone had better luck than us? Ps. Why does Berkeley never answer the phone? -- USENET- .... Sean Byrne 4 years . /\ . Memorial Univeristy of Nfld of anarchy . / \ . freedom . / \ . From: "T. Michael Louden" <louden@mitre-gateway.ARPA> The last Time I called I was told they could not ship because they had run out of plastic bubbles to pack the tapes in!

From: Jim Bloom <bloom%ucbshadow@ucb-vax.ARPA> Berkeley started shipping 2.9 a couple weeks ago. I have no idea of exactly to whom or when they placed their orders. From: Greg Satz <satz@Sri-Tsc.ARPA> We have been running 2.9bsd since around February as a beta test site for the TCP/IP code. The last message I saw (around three weeks ago) mentioned that 2.9bsd was starting to ship with the changes that we (and Tektronix) made for the network. I would be interested in hearing how many of you are interested in or are currently running 2.9bsd.

With my own eyes I have seen a 2.9 tape recently sent out by UCB and received by CWRU here in Cleveland. They must have finally gotten those bubbles. -- Roger Bielefeld decvax!cwruecmp!atvax!rab
