[net.music] Marillion

barth@tellab1.UUCP (Barth Richards) (09/25/85)

Are there any Marillion fans out there in netland? For those of you who aren't
familliar with this band, they sound a lot like early Genesis (NURSERY CRYME,
FOXTROT, SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND, THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY). They
also evidence some vestiges of Pink Floyd influences. (Their first two albums
each had the cover of a Pink Floyd album somewhere on the cover montage--
A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS on the cover of SCRIPT FOR A JESTER'S TEAR, and THE WALL
on the cover of FUGAZI.)

I would especially like to hear from Marillion fans in Europe (especially
England) who can tell me about bootlegs that have come out over there, as there
has only been one made here in the States. Judging from the bootlegs I have
(I have been able to get a hold of a few European boots) this band is fantastic
in concert.

The bootlegs I have are:

      FORGOTTEN SONGS (Early Demos--1980-1982)
GRENDEL'S GARDEN PARTY (only US made Marillion boot--Bangor
                              University, Wales, 1982, audience recording)
ANOTHER CHELSEA EVENING (1983, radio broadcast)
      LIVE (German radio broadcast, 1983)
LIVE II: SELLING FISH BY THE POUND (London? 1983, audience recording)
THE GAME IS OVER (Reading festival, BBC broadcast?)

I would appreciate any information about any other Marillion boots anyone out
there has, or has heard of--US, European, Australian, Japanese (or from anywhere
else, for that matter.)

THANKS!!
