[comp.sources.bugs] Bug in Unix arc version 5.21

lwv27@CAS.BITNET (12/17/90)

A user recently had the following incident with the arc which
says that it is:
ARC - Archive utility, Version 5.21, created on 04/22/87 at 15:05:21

They were attempting to archive a set of files using the move option.
A filename was reported to be too long. The user was asked if they
wished the name truncated. They indicated no. The arc continued.
When the user then did an ls, they discovered that the file was deleted
even though it was not moved into the .arc file! Surely this is not
considered a feature? Is this a known bug?
