I've been on the net for a little over a week now, and have been getting lots of error messages. I'm hoping that someone can explain some of these and make some suggestions to eliminate them. 1) Here's the first kind: inews: Unknown newsgroup alt.gourmand not localized inews: No valid newsgroups found, moved to junk 2) Then, I got a couple of these: inews: Article too old, moved to junk 3) Here's a common one: inews: freopen(87112210221d9d): No such file or directory inews: rnews failed, status 256. Batch saved in /usr2/spool/news/87112210221d9d What happens to the file after it's been saved?? 4) Here's another: inews: Inbound news is garbled 5) This one occurs each time expire is run: expire: Cannot open /usr/lib/news/nhistory (w): Permission denied 6) I got the following two mail messages and don't understand what's happening: --------------------------------- From news Sun Nov 22 04:31 EST 1987 Status: R Date: 22 Nov 87 09:31:33 GMT To: usenet Subject: sendsys control message Responding-System: mccc.UUCP princeton!udel!rochester!bbn!husc6!ncsuvx!lll-winken!uunet!pyrdc!grebyn!macom1!netsys!len requested your /usr/lib/news/sys file.
