[comp.mail.misc] SPAN gateway

dale@lamont.LDGO.Columbia.edu (dale chayes) (11/19/87)

I am trying to find a gateway from usnet to the "SPAN" network.
Calls to the "SPAN" project coordinator have gone unanswered.
Lacking much understanding of who or what SPAN is (other than
I need a stable mail route to a VAX on SPAN), I appeal to the net.

Thanks in advance, will summarize if there is an answer.

SPAN is the DECNET Network used by NASA. There is a Internet to
SPAN gateway. I think the name is STAR on the DECNET side.

Try user%foo.SPAN@jpl-vlsi.ARPA [aka] user%foo.SPAN@vlsi.JPL.NASA.GOV.
I think the folks over there have figured out how to get mail routing between
the two nets working ...
