After playing around, extensively, with SMAIL Version 2.5 on the University of Arkansas 'cseg' computer, I have come to the conclusion that without more help from someone I am stuck with one of two alternatives: 1) I can run SMAIL in a mode where I can send mail to anywhere outside the University LAN system but not to the other computers on the LAN, or 2) I can only send mail to the other computers on the LAN but not to anywhere outside the LAN. My problem lies in the fact that I don't understand completely - or have any documentation for - the SENDMAIL program that is provided to send mail between computers on the EtherNet LAN that we have (Brand name of "Wollogong", I think). I have succesfully gotten it to run in each of the above modes, but I can't seem to convince it to run in a hybrid mode that would allow both of these. The documentation that comes with SMAIL seems to be fairly helpful and even shows some examples, but it doesn't deal specifically with the setup that we have (evidently...or either I just don't understand). I have replaced the previous 'sendmail.cf' with the one given in the installation procedure, but then I can't mail to the local computers. If you could help me or know of anyone who could then I sure would appreciate any advice or help you could give me, or point me at someone else who could. Note: The system we are running is an AT&T 3B2/400 Unix Sys V Release 3.0. Note: I have successfully gotten SMAIL V2.5 to compile and run on my Tandy 3000 Xenix Sys V Release 2 (I think) with just one major modification: I had to use the /usr/lib/mail/execmail as the local mailer instead of /bin/lmail (actually /usr/bin/lmail in my case). Note: I am also using the latest (Version 9) of PathAlias on both machines. Thanks in advance for any help!
