I am looking for some software that will allow me to process a UNIX mailbox on a IBM PC. What I would like to find is the means to download a complete UNIX mailbox of mail onto an IBM PC. Then I would like to disconnect from UNIX, and process my mail on the IBM PC. After I have processed the UNIX mail on my PC, (doing replies and sending new mail), then I would like to log back into UNIX and upload the mail files to UNIX and have them sent. I know how to download files from UNIX, so that is the simple part. Does anyone have something like this or is anyone working on a project like this? I've written such a system (but it's simple) using the communications package "Professional YAM" and the mail breaking part in Turbo-C V 1.0. I take this one step further since I'm on a LAN and have a BBS. My LAN BBS wakes up every 1/2 hour and checks for any outgoing mail on the LAN. If any exists, it automatically logs onto the UNIX system sends the outgoing mail and takes incoming mail. It also collect mail at 6:00am so the mail's on my LAN when I get to work. The BBS allows me get/put any files between my PC at home and the LAN at work. I'd be happy to send source, but you must purchase YAM to use the communications scripts ($139 Omen Technology 503 621-3406). This also collect and sends mail using our UCLA Mail system under TSO. I therefore never logon to send/receive mail. I have no plans to enhance this system, since it's just for my personal use. --todd booth / ucla data comm ArpaNet todd@seas.ucla.EDU / BitNet csdctgb@uclamvs.bitnet UUCP {ihnp4,ucbvax}!ucla-cs!todd / 213 825-1933
