[comp.mail.misc] Help: User is getting bounces from untrackable host

karl@cheops.cis.ohio-state.edu (Karl Kleinpaste) (05/12/88)

I have a user who participates off and on in comp.sys.amiga. He gets
a bounce back every time he posts something to that newsgroup. It
seems that his postings turn into mail at some point along the way,
but the mail then bounces back. Below is a typical bounced bounce,
that is, where I forwarded an original bounce to (what I hoped would
be) the postmaster, which also bounced.

This host does not exist, as far as I can tell. I've tried queries
for it directly, and I've tried using the percentification wrap
through mitvma.mit.edu, and it still comes back. A `whois rcn'
returns me just a single individual at UTexas, clearly not who I
wanted. Any help in tracking down the offending host would be much
appreciated.

One of my users is complaining to me that your system is repeatedly
bouncing every posting to a Usenet newsgroup which forwards into your
system as mail. The newsgroup is comp.sys.amiga, which becomes
amiga@udel.edu, I believe. Apparently, the problem is with the size
of the mailbox for user `gerald' on your system. Could this be looked
into and corrected, please?

Thanx,
