The only provision in the 1984 X.400 standard for non-English character
sets is the use of T.61 strings. I don't yet have a copy of the 1988
X.400 draft, but I would like to know if it has been extended to include
ISO 8859 strings as well? We are about to do some serious multi-vendor
character set translation work and would prefer to use ISO 8859, but
want to be able to interwork easily with X.400 as well.
