[comp.mail.misc] Mailer help needed

adamm@necis.UUCP (Adam Moskowitz) (06/23/88)

Well, you see, it's like this - I use vn to read my news, and I use mailx
(the Sys-V equivalent of BSD Mail) to read my mail. When I reply to a news
article by mail, I like to save my reply for future reference. I can do this,
but the headers get munged. Mailx accepts the mail message fron vn just fine,
but mailx doesn't want to accept additional header lines as part of the
message body. If I feed the mail message directly from vn to smail (a sort-of
sendmail replacement), the headers come out just fine. However, smail doesn't
understand about saving outgoing mail. Does anyone out there know how I can
make this work? I'd happily hack vn to talk to some other mailer, but I still
want the stuff saved in such a way that mailx can be used to read it. Any
suggestions? Mail 'em to me and I'll summarize if I get enough replies.
Thanx.
