steve@ivucsb.UUCP (Steve Lemke <steve>) (10/12/88)
I'm a senior at the University of California, Santa Barbara, majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineerin, and I'm writing a Technical paper for my Technical Writing class (imagine that!). The title of the paper is "Electronic Mail: What about Signatures and Envelopes", and it will be dealing with security issues such as ensuring that the listed author of a document did, indeed, create the document, as well as making sure that only people who are supposed to read the document are able to read it. These issues seem to be handled nicely with the use of a public key cryptosystem such as the RSA system (available in a program called "MailSafe" on the IBM PC). I'm also including some background info on electronic mail - an introduction and brief history - for those who are not already familiar with it (my target audience is the Tech Writing class). If you have any information that might prove helpful for my report, I would really like to hear from you, via EMAIL please. I'm interested in any articles related to electronic mail, especially the history of or security aspects as mentined above. Thanks in advance. ----- Steve Lemke ------------------- "MS-DOS (OS/2, etc.) - just say no!" ----- Internet: steve@ivucsb.UUCP; lemke@apple.COM AppleLink: LEMKE ----- uucp: pyramid!comdesign!ivucsb!steve CompuServe: 73627,570 ----- alt.uucp: {decwrl!}sun!apple!lemke GEnie: S.Lemke ----- Quote: "What'd I go to college for?"
