What type of link do I need? > I've seen others from HP with accounts that look like: > > NAME@HPSAD.HP.COM (I think this is for Rohnert Park) > ^^^^^ > Is this @hpsad a site variable? If you've got an account on forsythe, you should have no real problems. The HP Internet (HP's private R&D network) and Stanford are both on the Internet, and sending mail from one to the other should be straight- forward, given the correct address. "hpsad" is actually just the name of the hub computer at HP's Signal Analysis Division (hence "sad"). > I've asked the person I'm trying to contact but have only got a long > complicated account that routes through U.C. Berkeley and only get a > "host unknown" reply. Maybe someone at HP can give me a hand. > Appreciate help in understanding how these things are routed. If you already know the name of the computer this person has an account on, and his account name, you can try sending mail to <accountname>@<computername>.hp.com For example, to send mail to the "postmaster" account on the computer "hp-unix", you would use the address postmaster@hp-unix.hp.com If this doesn't work, or if you need more help, drop me a line.
