[comp.mail.misc] What *should* an MUA do?

I'm going to go *way* off on a tangent here...

I'm working on (well, writing specs for, at the moment) an MUA for our
Incredibly Big Machine. I'm interested in finding out what people feel
the "right thing" is for replies (as here) or other aspects of an MUA.

Limitations of the thing: it will be written in REXX and use XEDIT.
It's *not* a CMS site, so I don't know at present what limitations that
interface will have (if they're really bad the whole project will just
go down the tubes). The programming team is completely unofficial and
is a management undergrad in Boston and an engineering student in NJ.
[If any of you think we can even get this thing DONE based on all that,
let us know what you think... :-]

Pie in the sky "this is what I'd really like if you could ever do it"
comments will be always accepted, occasionally implemented, definitely
appreciated. Ye Olde Hacker Spirit and all that.

Followups to comp.mail.misc which I think is the best place to go...

Oh, and no flames, please? I want suggestions, not "my MUA is better than
yours, my way is better than yours, etc." "My MUA does this and I like it"
is more the sort of thing I'm looking for.

OOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooops!

I mucked up the followup-to line in that last. Followups should go to
comp.mail.misc (or to me if you think it's not something worthy/appropriate
for comp.mail.misc).
