I would like to set up a mail alias that resolves to part of a full bang path. There are several users of an email system that exists on another network and system (that shall remain nameless) here at work. The beginning part of the address to these users is the same: host1!host2!host3!user. What I would like to do is set up an alias for host1!host2!host3. For example, let's say X==host1!host2!host3 so I could then send mail addressed as X!user. I tried this by specifying X in sendmail's alias file and using it as part of the address in a mail message. The alias was never resolved. Is it possible to do what I want? If it makes a difference, I'm running a Sun 3/260 under SunOS 4.0.1 with a stock sendmail and sendmail.cf. Thanks for any help.
