There is currently available version 5.7 of mush for DOS. Yes, this is version FIVE-POINT-SEVEN. Even tho this is a very old version of mush, it has the best performance for the *minimally* stocked IBM-PC running DOS. There are more recently versions available - including several incan- tations of 6.0 (I think even 6.4). These versions do run on dos, but you should probably have quite a bit more memory. It runs just fine on OS/2. NOTE and disclaimer: I did not do this port and will not support it. The same goes for Bart Schaefer, I imagine :-). Do not even attempt to send me mail about anything to do with this code -- I haven't even looked at it. The entire port was done by Mike O'Carroll <uunet!lena.uucp!moc> (lives and works in England). He says he's been using 5.7 for years now and he has sent me an "ARC" copy of the code. I don't have a new enough version of ARC, so I can't even extract the files to look at them. Included with the "arc" archive are several binaries for those folks who don't want to compile it themselves. Mush-dos talks to UUPC -- an MTA for DOS that acts like uucp, I imagine. I don't know where to get this; you'll have to do that yourself. Mike is happy to support this, but he does not have access to the newsgroups this message is being posted to as I understand it. At any rate, you can ftp this version of mush from ucbvax. ftp ucbvax ftp> cd pub/mailers ftp> binary ftp> get mush-5.7.dos.arc If you don't have uucp access, I can mail it to you, but judging from the increbile flood of responses the last time I brought this up, I am afraid it might take a while for you to get it in the mail. If I can get a slot in comp.sources.misc, then I might get it in there. Is there a source group for DOS sources? If you want me to mail it to you, you will get in in split messages containing the "arc" archive that's been converted to ascii via the "btoa" program (the old/original version since it can read from stdin :-). It's about 1M. Wait 4-6 days for delivery. Void where prohibited. Ask your parents before calling. Prices includes tax, title, doc, and registration fees. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or illegal alien. Dan Heller <island!argv@sun.com>
