If anyone could and would be willing to give me a bit of help with a sendmail configuration, I'd be very grateful (and have been known to return favors). One problem has to do with my wanting to modify a "To:" address to fake-out a BITnet host that insists on parsing the message header, in addition to the "envelope"'s address (it's a mail- ing-list situation, so the name of the mailing-list is what's put in the "To:" line now, and I have it on good authority that the problem will go away if I add my domain-name to the mailing list name, to convince the BITnet mailer that it doesn't really want to mess with it). The other problem is that I'm sending more copies than are necessary to my smart-host net-neighbor due to the fact that I don't know how to invoke the batching feature talked about in the sendmail documents (I have a full set of docs, far as I know - though I'm using a slightly- modified version of the 1983 release of sendmail). Some batching is being done without my having had to invoke it specially (seems it happens when all the addresses are on the same machine which appears to be one hop away from my neighbor). If you need more details, please send email. Thanks much! -- Gary Trujillo (gst@wjh12.harvard.edu)
