We're running MIT's TechMail version 1.0 on 2 Mac Plus's under MacOS 6.0.5. These Mac's are connected to a Localtalk network which is gatewayed to an ethernet via a Gatorbox. TechMail runs using Apple's MacTCP software. Sometimes when our people here run TechMail, after it has completed some action dealing with the network (like posting a message or checking or receiving mail), it will bomb the OS with the screen saying something like "System error has occured (ID=2)". I tried to get information from Apple and eventhough their answering system said it was connecting me to "technical support", they claimed they can't help me "because they're not technical support"(?). Anyway, I called our local bookstore and they happened to have a program which told them that ID# 2 has to do with "an address or communication error". What TYPE of address? An IP address? A memory address? A disk address? What type of communication error? A network comm. error? A program to user comm. error? A IPC error? Talk about useless... Has anyone seen anything like this before? Anyone?... Anywhere?... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Richard A.
