Here is the answer to the AppleLink<->Internet mail gateway question.
To get mail from the Internet over to AppleLink, mail should be addressed to:
user@AppleLink.Apple.COM
where "user" is the AppleLink id.
To get mail from AppleLink to Internet mail should be addressed to:
user@domain.address@INTERNET#
or
user@domain.address@DASNET#
(The consensus was split among respondents. At least one person mentioned
their success with one of the above).
Other Notes:
- Files should be ASCII, therefore BinHex use is advisable.
- Files are limited to 32KByte size therefore use of StuffIt
and some form of file splitting is recommended.
Some mentioned that they had never gotten file transfers to
work but wished good luck.
- To send confidential stuff, use of encryption software was
advised.
- The link was reported not to be terribly dependable. Receipt of
important files should be confirmed by phone.
- edhew@xenitec.on.ca (Ed Hew) kindly forwarded a copy of the
latest Internet Mail Guide, periodically posted to
comp.mail.misc. It contains a wealth of useful information.
Highly recommended...
