[comp.mail.misc] Does compuserve implement a fullname database?

rmfowler@texrex.uucp (Rex Fowler) (11/04/90)

Does compuserve have a fullname database equating numeric IDs with
real names? It dosen't seem that it would take much to implement and
it would be much easier to send mail to moe_larry_lastname@compuserve.com
than 12345.6789@compuserve.com.

Of course there's always the problem of duplicate names.

just a thought

Some Compuserve users aren't even listed if you're logged in directly
to the service--they keep anonymity.

Users at CompuServe can receive mail if you replace the comma in
their userid with a period and send to userid@compuserve.com.
