I have a friend who wants to connect a bunch of PCs to a UNIX server, and be able to send and receive Email on those PCs (running DOS and Windows 3.0). They would like this to be as transparent to the user as possible, and the connections may be network (Ethernet or twisted pair token ring) or serial/RS-232. I'm not real familiar with this area - I know a little about UUPC and stuff like that, but that's not real transparent to the user, and doesn't include a User Agent. Can anyone help me with some suggestions? Email would be appreciated, since I don't always get to read these groups. This is what I can offer. I have (and am using even as I write this) a mail utility. It is buggy. It does not handle very large files. These problems will be fixed soon. What it does is open a file (that may reside on a networked drive) and allow the user to scroll through a list of mail in that file. It presents the header information in three separate 3D edit controls and the main body in a large multiline 3D edit control. Once I work the UAE bugs out, I will add support for remote connections via RS232 serial or ethernet. This way it could talk directly to the SendMail and Maild interfaces. this may not help, but it is worth a try... ciao jeff ps. it is almost ready for beta test. -- Jeff Watkins jwatkins@cadsun7.gatech.edu Convergent Media Systems (404) 315-0105 voice (404) 315-0231 data "I speak for no-one. I am sorry about the bounce. I was testing a mail server. It worked under debugging conditions but failed in real use. Oh well. If anyone has mailed me recently, I am indeed alive. Please remail and I will try to help... ciao jeff -- Jeff Watkins jwatkins@cadsun7.gatech.edu Convergent Media Systems (404) 315-0105 voice (404) 315-0231 data "I speak for no-one.
