Hi, in the german "SubNet" we had a discussion about interpretation of UUCP maps. The two different standpoints are: 1) The map entry for some gateway to the domain .bar.dom foo .bar.dom and the corresponding paths line .bar.dom next!..!feed!foo!%s is enough information for all valid UUCP-mailers to generate some path for the address <user@bar.dom>. 2) To generate paths to <user@bar.dom> some valid mailers need map informations like foo= bar.dom (not possible for multiple gateways to .bar.dom) or foo bar.dom and the corresponding paths line bar.dom next!..!feed!foo!%s I know that smail2.5, smail3.5 and sendmail mailers can generate routes like "next!..!feed!foo!bar.dom!user" from the path information ".bar.dom next!..!feed!foo!%s". But I can't find any documentation requesting this feature for UUCP mailers. If such documentation exists, I would be happy to get a copy by email or some hints where to find id. If it is not required, what is the reason to have this feature in some mailers? I know about the description of some mail-gateway using wildcard MX in rfc1034 but is this equivalent to the map entry "foo .bar.dom"? Does the map entry "foo .bar.dom" specify that the host 'foo' is responsible for all domain names ending with '.bar.com', including mailbox names like "user.foo.bar"?
