So something horrible happened while I was off galavanting about at USENIX/Uniforum in Washington D.C. - my "/usr" disk crashed and died real bad. This has caused some grevious problems, not the least (I thought initially) was the loss of 180+ email messages. But then I decided to send out a new issue of the Computers and Society Digest. Suprise!! The mailing list was on that disk too. And now it's gone. Backups? you ask. Uhhh...Ummm...I don't back up /usr since, gee, there's nothing I can't restore through other means on it. *SIGH* Anyway what this means is that I would appreciate if people could circulate the word to others that might be reading C&S as a mailing rather than a USENET group (there were about 80 addresses) that they need to let me know their address again. Gad. I promise never to let it happen again. Ever. I'll never leave my disk alone for more than two hours now. In fact, I've started bringing backup tapes along to parties. :-) Thanks a lot. -- Dave Taylor ``moderator'' of the Computers and Society Digest / mod.comp-soc
