I've heard a fair bit of arguing about what C is or isn't on the net (I've even contributed to it at times), but I haven't heard much about the rumored C standardization efforts. Can someone give us a progress report, or is this just going to jump out of the closet without warning some day. --dave (imposed solutions will be ignored) brown

Larry Rosler gave a fairly detailed report on the status of the ANSI
C standard effort at Usenix. It's not too bad. They haven't done
anything too drastic, and most of the things they have done are for
the better.
Current ideas on schedule are a release for public comment by the end
of this year, and a final version by the end of next year. Theoretically.
