Look, guys, enough is enough. Some of us would rather worry about our spool directories running out of space than get all this mail about rmgroup/newgroup/rmgoop wars. Please stop retrashing my active file. Gordon, if you don't like alt.california, you've got several choices: - unsubscribe. That's what I did. - put !alt.california in your sys file, so you junk incoming articles and rmgroup locally. It's low enough volume that should be enough. - as your newsfeeds to put !alt.california in their feeds to you. - ask for a vote on the net, to find out if there's still enough volume to keep it alive. Apparently there is. AT THIS POINT, ALT.CALIFORNIA SHOULD NEVER AFFECT YOU! UNLESS, OF COURSE, YOUR EGO GETS INVOLVED. - ask for a vote of the people who used to be net.gods and/or the BackBoneCabal, to see if there's a real justification for junking the group netwide. This sort of thing takes a lot of support. Groups like alt.weemba or alt.birthright go away after they've had their fun. Alt.california seems to have stayed. net.flame was worth junking. - "Just do it", and then get obnoxious about it. If someone out there creates an automatic newgrouper to combat the automatic rmgrouper, y'all could annoy us for weeks.
