Mr. Dolan, you're an idiot. Not only are these folks well-known for their
long history of contributions to Usenet, but it's absurd to blindly classify
their articles as "wasteful" or "offensive", tally up the bytes, and then
start pointing fingers. It's especially absurd in Gene's case, since the
articles you're counting from him are automated monthly postings -- which,
perhaps you should read thoroughly before *you* waste so much bandwidth
in the future.

That's depressing. I remember the Good Old Days when I was one of the top
ten USENET sites... Now the best I can do is second place in news.groups.
Oh, well...

Of course, I was listed at least twice in the message (you probably ought to
do case insensitive sorts, you know...) and various people's definitions of
bandwidth wasting vary. Mine, for instance, includes long, useless
tabulations of meaningless data trying to prove stupid concepts.

Wow! The first time I've ever been on a news list. Unfortunately, I'm
only seventh, so I thought I'd pad my number a bit by posting this article
to thank all of the little people (particularly Kent Paul Dolan, the
smallest of them all) who made this award possible.

And because no one should be considered an official bandwidth waster
without posting to the whole world, I've changed the distribution header
to world. Thank you very much.

Rich, do you need an smiley face each time anyone is being ironic or
saying something in a fun sort of way?

I made the 10th place and I will keep working hard to make it better!

Is is worse to waste bandwidth on a given topic or to waste bandwidth
on bandwidth waste?

Right, wasted bytes.

Only 5%? I'll have to do better than that. :-)

And a rerun after the posting of the Hall of Fame would include:

right up there in the Top 20.

So we can all waste even more bandwidth posting results and flaming
wastage on other groups? What's the point, Mr. Dolan?

I have three questions concerning the "Bandwidth Wasters' Hall of Fame."
Please excuse me if I sound ignorant, but:

1) What criteria were used to label an article a "waste" of bandwidth?

2) How can you complain about people wasting bandwidth and then turn around
and post a 157-LINE ARTICLE FULL OF UTTERLY USELESS INFORMATION????!!!!

3) Who appointed you moderator?

Just curious,
