Just because the European backbones may not distribute everything yet certainly does not question the fact that all rec.* groups etc are available to their subscribers - if they want them and are willing to pay for the privilege. The distribution was just one aspect of this. You can't possible cater to all levels of expertise with just one newsgroup, and decision was made (no, not just by me) that sci.aquaria was preferable to the taxanomically abhorrent rec.aquaria.tech.
