It was in effect what was said in the posting to which I replied.  Asking
for money to send persons unknown to the poster to college, e.g., 
would be acceptable, the posting implied, whereas asking for money 
to send one's self to college would not be.  I fail to see why 
one is good and the other bad.

Be that as it may, if the supporters of this group want it to
be read, they should open the charter to non-soliciting postings,
as well (e.g., "The American Cancer Society is sponsoring The
Great American Smokeout next week" or "The Heart Association
is conducting a survey.  If you'd like a copy, call --").
