[news.groups] Second CALL FOR VOTES: talk.problems

fargo@pawl.rpi.edu (Irwin M. Fargo) (12/04/89)

This is the second posting of the CALL FOR VOTES for the creation of
talk.problems.

Considering that there were no major objections to the final name and purpose
of talk.problems, and since the discussion period has lasted the time I plan-
ned, I would like to open the voting period.

The voting period will last for 30 days from Monday, Nov. 20, 1989. This
posting will be repeated every two weeks.

The form of votes: Votes will not be valid unless they are e-mailed to me
at the following address: fargo@pawl.rpi.edu (...!rpi.edu!pawl.rpi.edu!fargo
for you UUCP people).

I also request that you place your vote in the "Subject: " line as being either
yes or no. Don't place any votes in the body of the message as I might ignore
it in my haste to keep up with everything.

If your mailing address is not valid as it appears in the "From: " or
"Reply-to: " lines, please state so in the "Subject: " line (ie. Typical
subject would be "Subject: Yes (address correction)").

Votes will be tallied and results posted on Fri., Dec. 22 (I have finals that
week). Please do NOT send in your vote twice nor send me a vote correction.
When I read my mail and see your vote, it is final. This is meant mainly to
keep the vote tally correct.

Please! Keep the messages as short as possible!

If you need to send mail to me for something other than voting (messages about
voting procedures fall in the former category) please make sure the Subject:
line makes no referneces to Yes or No votes. If you feel unsure as to the
meaning of your subject, send me mail at: usergac0@mts.rpi.edu
(usergac0@rpitsmts for BITNET users).
   Thank you,
   Ethan Young

Neither the original nor this second notice about talk.problems has
announced the purpose of talk.problems. We can't have an informed vote
about it, so I request the vote be canceled and restarted with a proper
notice. (I sent mail after the first notice, but it obviously had no effect)
