Welcome to rec.aquaria, the latest in the ever increasing number of newsgroups on USENET catering to todays aquarist. I don't think this group needs much explanation. If it goes in an aquarium, it belongs in this group. The question may arise, ``why is there a sci.aquaria also, and what goes there'' The answer, as I see it is, rec.aquaria is meant for the great majority of hobbyists who maintain a tank or two purely for aesthetic reasons and don't consider themselves terribly serious hobbyists. Sci.aquaria is the place to take discussions that go on and on, such as the current one on skimmers or the never ending search for the perfect lighting system - in short if it is, or is getting very technical, and may bore or intimidate the casual aquarium hobbyist, then it probably belongs in sci.aquaria. So what is alt.aquaria for ? Easy. Thats the group you cross post to to get better distribution for your article.

Got to hand it to Richard Sexton, folks. Most people would be happy to get one group to discuss their topic. Richard fooled his own enemies into giving him TWO, or three, depending on how you look at it! Look at all those people who have tried to split groups so that there could be two areas of discussion on their topic. Most of them fail after hard battles. Richard's no dummy. He suckers other people into doing all the work for him. Congratulations. I said it before, nobody won that debate. BOTH SIDES LOST. The attempts to continue it are more of the same. In fact, I shouldn't have posted this, but this is so ironic that I couldn't resist. -- Brad Templeton, ClariNet Communications Corp. -- Waterloo, Ontario 519/884-7473
