I wonder if we aren't going about this in the wrong way. The complaint has been made that rec.arts.movies is not a very good place to conduct serious discussions on the artistic merits of filmmaking, and that the newsgroup is too cluttered with trivia and "gee whiz" comments about Batman and the latest hit movie, etc. Take a look at the name of the newsgroup: rec.ARTS.movies. Shouldn't the "arts" designation indicate that serious discussions about the _art_ of cinema should be conducted here? Perhaps what we really need is a place for all the trivia to reside and allow rec.arts.movies to do what it appears to have been designed for in the first place. Just a thought. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Howells | "Science does not | howells@pioneer.arc.nasa.gov Sterling Software | remove the terror | howells@krypton.arc.nasa.gov Palo Alto, Ca. | of the Gods" | howells%kry@ames.arc.nasa.gov
