I originally supported putting the Objectivism groups under sci.philosophy because I was under the impression that the groups involved the science of philosophy and contained many different philosophies. I posted a change of preference to talk because I was informed the the hierarchy rather dealt with the philosophy of science, and that the various schools of philosophy were not represented here. If this latter impression is correct, it is irrelevant whether philosophy is a science, and whether Objectivism meets the definition of a philosophy (it certainly does!). What is relevant is that, as things stand, the sci.philosophy hierarchy is not appropriate for this newsgroups; either soc or talk would be. Putting it in talk would, I suspect, make passage easier without violating either the spirit or the letter of the guidelines.
