I would like to propose the following:
All the soc.culture.* groups be moved to alt.culture.*
This would permit anyone who feels the need for their very own
usenet {ethnic hair_color eye_color religion regional family_name}
news group to go ahead and create it without cluttering the rest of
the world with discussions about how important it is to keep track
of things back home or whatever.
I just saw at least three CFD/CFVs for soc.culture groups, none
of which would be likely to represent more than 2% of the news
readers around the world.
In lieu of the above change, I would like to suggest that you each
form a mailing list, and stick with that until you have at least
200 email addresses that don't bounce. Then, a CFD for converting
your mailing list to a newsgroup would be met with much more
net.favor....
Maybe I should CFD for soc.culture.heston, since my family name
came to this country around 1792, and there should be a bunch
of us. Nothing like the Smiths or Joneses, though.....
