This is a call for votes to create the news group
comp.lang.objective-c. This group would be
unmoderated and have the following proposed charter:
The news group comp.lang.objective-c is chartered
to discuss questions and issues surrounding the
Objective-C language, the compiler, class libraries
implemented in and/or accessible from Objective-C,
tools for the Objective-C environment, interfaces to
other software systems, and applications written in
Objective-C or usable by Objective-C.
To vote:
1. Send e-mail to Chuck Noren at ncar!dinl!noren.
2. Put either "comp.lang.objective-c vote" in the subject
line or "Re: CALL FOR VOTES to create comp.lang.objective-c"
(the default response subject).
3. In the text body, put either:
"I vote yes to create comp.lang.objective-c" to vote FOR
the creation of the news group, or,
"I vote no to create comp.lang.objective-c" to vote AGAINST
the creation of the new group.
I will accept any unambiguous vote for or against the creation
of comp.lang.objective-c. If I see "yes" somewhere in the text
body, I'll interpret that as a vote for the new group. If I see
"no" somewhere in the text body, I'll interpret that as a vote
against the news group.
Schedule for voting:
1. Voting period: 21 days from the date of posting.
2. Acknowledgement. About 7 and 14 days after the date of
posting this call for votes, I will post a mass
acknowledgement of the votes so far in news.groups.
3. Vote Tally. At the end of 21 days, I will post a vote
tally with the initial result of the vote in news.groups.
4. Waiting Period. After the conclusion of the voting
period, there will be a five day waiting period to correct
any errors in the voting procedures and voting list.
5. After the waiting period, AND if the vote is successful,
the news group comp.lang.objective-c would be created.
