Call for discussion: COMP.SYS.IBM.RISC6000

The creation of the newsgroup described below has already been discussed in
comp.arch and comp.unix.aix. As the replies to the original articles were
generally positive, I am posting a formal call for discussion, which
will probably be followed later by a call for votes, according to the
guidelines.

The suggested name for the group is COMP.SYS.IBM.RISC6000. Several other
names have been discussed:

comp.sys.ibm.6000 rejected because of potential problems with
news software (name starting with a number)

comp.sys.ibm.rs6000 original suggestion - withdrawn because of
                             a request from IBM.

comp.sys.ibm.r6000 Too confusing, as another company produces a
                             computer labelled R6000.

        comp.sys.ibm.power \
        comp.sys.ibm.rios \ possible alternatives.
        comp.sys.ibm.risc6k /
        comp.sys.ibm.s6000 /

Charter: This group will be dedicated to IBM RISC SYSTEM/6000 related
discussion. It is expected to carry similar postings as other comp.sys.*
groups do - a mixture of hardware and software-related postings.

Status: I suggest that the group be unmoderated. If a strong demand for
moderation appears, and a moderator can be found (I am most certainly not
volunteering), I will propose the creation of a moderated group.

The newsgroups expected to be affected by the creation of this group are:

comp.arch - occasional crossposting of hardware-related articles may
                    be expected.

comp.unix.aix - some crossposting of AIX-related articles expected.

comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt - the RS/6000 material is expected to disappear.

In addition, the BITNET list POWER-L (which is currently available as
bit.listserv.power-l) might be combined with the proposed group later.
