CALL FOR VOTES * CALL FOR VOTES * CALL FOR VOTES
              **************************************************

This is the FIRST call for votes for the creation of the newsgroup
comp.archives.admin.

Please read all of this article carefully prior to voting. The proposed
group is as follows:

NAME:
    comp.archives.admin

STATUS:
    unmoderated

CHARTER:

The purpose of the newsgroup is to give the community a forum for
discussions relating to archive administration and archiving topics.
Its focus is the maintenance of archives in general, tools for dealing
with accessing, maintaining and updating archives and directions that
archiving should be taking in the future.

The intent of the newsgroup is not to just focus on one type of
archive administration but accept and encourage discussions on the
administration of different types of archives such as ftp, uucp
    and email based archives.

VOTING PROCEDURE:

Send votes to: kent@uunet.uu.net or uunet!kent

Preferably your message should include one of the following lines
in the body of the text:

      I vote YES for comp.archives.admin
      I vote NO for comp.archives.admin

I will be flexible in accepting other wording providing your vote
is made clear and unambiguous. If I receive more than one vote
  from the same account;

o If the votes are for the same side of the issue, I will
count the votes as one vote. I will send email informing
the voter that their vote is only being counted once.

o If the votes are for opposite sides of the issue, I wil
throw out both votes. I will send email informing the
voter that their vote is being discounted in this case.

The voting period ends at 23:59 EDT on Thursday, May 23rd. In order
for your vote to be counted I must receive it before then.

COMMENTS:

The guidelines for successful creation of a new newsgroup require
that the votetaker receive 100 more YES votes than NO votes, and that
the YES votes be at least 2/3 of all valid votes cast. I will send a
mass acknowledgement of votes received approximately half way through
  the voting period.
