Getting the TU80 to stream on VMS requires the user to tell the
system to allocate 5 buffers. There's no way on Unix to do that,
at least not using the raw interface, where I/I is synchronous.
I've considered says around this, e.g. to add buffering to raw
transfers, but I'm not happy with any of the solutions I've
come up with. Their general flaw is that they change the semantics
of the raw tape interface somewhat.

It's not too useful, but using blocked tape the TU80 will stream.
The disadvantage, of course, is that you can only get 2k byte
records.
